The Turkish government introduced the e-Visa for Turkey in 2013 to facilitate international tourism and business visits. It is available to travelers of over 100 nationalities. Do Hong Kong Citizens Need an eVisa for Turkey?

Yes, Travelers from Hong Kong are eligible to request an e-Visa to visit Turkey and need it before reaching the country. The Turkish visa policy details the main features the e-Visa offers to Hong Kong travelers.

The Turkey e-Visa is a visa-waiver and is valid for 6 months upon issuance. It grants Hong Kong visitors a multiple-entry and a stay of 30 days. It can be used for tourism, business, or transiting through. Lastly, Turkey’s eVisa can be used to enter the country by air, road, or sea.

Turkey eVisa Requirements for Hong Kong Passport Holders

Applicants should read the  visa requirements for Hong Kong nationals before initiating the application process for the Turkey e-Visa. Hong Kong citizens should confirm they possess the following:

  • Passport with a validity of 6 months or more on the date of arrival
  • 2 blank pages available on the same passport
  • Credit or debit card
  • Email address

Hong Kong applicants must ensure their passport will be valid for at least 180 days (6 months) on Turkey’sarrival. They should also confirm it includes 2 blank pages for entry and exit stamps. If these requirements are not met, we recommend they renew their passports as soon as possible before applying for the e-Visa.

Since all the communications between them and the Turkish government will be carried out by email, we recommend providing an email address they frequently use. The Turkish government will communicate with Hong Kong travelers only by mail (including the confirmation and granting of the e-Visa).

Additionally, they should check the credit or debit card they will use to pay the e-Visa processing fee that is activated for international transactions.

Hong Kong nationals interested in traveling to Turkey for over 30 days or planning to relocate for job-seeking opportunities or academic purposes must schedule a visit to the Turkish General Consulate in Hong Kong for further details.

How Do I Apply for a Turkey Electronic Visa from Hong Kong?

Hong Kong citizens who know their travel dates to Turkey can go ahead and fill in the online eVisa application form. It is an online questionnaire with straightforward questions that usually takes under an hour to complete. The application includes the following questions:

  • Personal details (name, date of birth. nationality)
  • Passport information (number, issue, and expiry date)
  • Travel plans (dates of travel, tickets, accommodation address)

It is essential that Hong Kong requesters carefully read through their answers in the eVisa form. If they make any errors or mistakes, these cannot be edited once the form is delivered, and it may lead to delays with their approval.

They should also ensure they use the same passport during the application process as they will use during their visit to Turkey. This is important for Hong Kong citizens with dual nationality or those who have needed to replace their passport after their application.

Do Hong Kong underage visitors need the Turkey e-Visa?

Yes, Hong Kong groups with children planning to travel to Turkey need to apply individually for each traveler. Parents or legal guardians can fill their dependents’ applications on their behalf using the same email and payment method without any problems.
