Tanzania eVisa Requirements for Citizens of Italy

  • Simplified Application Form
  • Expert Application Review
  • Approved visa or money back

Italians can travel to Tanzania with an online visa. The Tanzania government introduced the eVisa for Tanzania in 2018 to simplify the process to obtain a valid travel permit for international travelers. Italian tourists can obtain this electronic visa from the comfort of their homes without needing to schedule an appointment at an embassy.

What Is the Tanzania eVisa for Italian Travelers

The Tanzania electronic visa (eVisa) for citizens of Italy is a digital entry permit. In line with the Tanzanian visa policy, it allows Italian passport holders to visit mainland Tanzania and the Zanzibar islands for tourism and leisure.

The eVisa for Tanzania grants Italian tourists a single entry to the African country. Once approved and received, Italian travelers have up to 90 days to enter Tanzania. Visitors with an eVisa can stay up to 30 days.

If Italian nationals are planning to relocate for a more stable period of time or need to visit the country for longer than a month, they should visit the Tanzanian embassy in Rome or Consulate in Milan for further visa options.

Tanzania eVisa Requirements for Italian Citizens

International travelers are advised to read through the visa requirements for Italian passport holders before they start their eVisa request. The basic requirements Italians must meet to apply for the eVisa to enter Tanzania include the following:

  • Italian passport with a minimum of 6 months validity on their arrival in Tanzania
  • Digital copy of the passport bio page
  • Passport-style photograph of Italian traveler
  • Digital copy of the return/onward ticket
  • Bank card to pay the eVisa fee
  • Email address that is used frequently

Italian applicants should note the Tanzanian eVisa is a unique travel permit that will be linked to their passport once approved. It cannot be transferred to a second passport. Therefore, if their passport is set to expire soon, it is advisable to renew it before beginning the application.

They should also ensure it includes at least one blank page for government officials to provide entry and exit stamps.

Italian visitors should purchase or pre-book their transportation tickets and accommodation before their eVisa request since they will be required to share this information during their application.

They must also confirm the bank card they will use to pay the eVisa fee has been previously authorized for online payments.

It is recommended that Italian travelers use an email address they access regularly. All the communications regarding their application will be done by email only, so it is best to have this information at hand.

Application Form for the Tanzania eVisa for Italian Citizens

The Tanzania eVisa application form is an online questionnaire with simple and straightforward questions that Italian citizens can usually answer in 15 to 20 minutes.

The following personal information and passport details must be provided:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Citizenship
  • Email address
  • Residential address
  • Passport number
  • Passport issue date
  • Passport expiry date
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Entry and exit dates

Italian citizens planning a group visit such as a family holiday with children should be aware that each applicant can include up to 3 minors in their eVisa request. They do not need to submit separate applications for each of their dependents.

Italian travelers should check their answers before submitting the eVisa form. Once delivered, it cannot be altered. Any mistake or gaps in information could delay their approval or even lead to rejection.

Nationals of Italy applying for a Tanzania eVisa must also pay a small processing fee. Most international debit and credit cards are accepted, and the payment is carried out by a secure online system.

How Long Will it Take to Receive the Tanzania eVisa for Italians?

Once Italian travelers have submitted their Tanzania eVisa request, it is processed within 1-7 business days.

If all the answers they provided are correct and they meet the eVisa requirements, they will receive a confirmation email with an Approved Visa Grant Notice and a Visa Application Notification Letter. Upon receipt, they should print out a copy of each and bring them to present at Tanzanian immigration control.

Italian Tourists Traveling to Tanzania with the eVisa

Italian travelers with an approved eVisa should arrange to enter Tanzania via one of the following ports of entry, which are equipped to process the electronic visa:

  • Julius Nyerere International Airport
  • Kilimanjaro International Airport
  • Abeid Amani Karume International Airport
  • Namanga Border Crossing
  • Tunduma Border Crossing

Some seaports in the Zanzibar islands also authorize entries with the eVisa. Italian tourists are advised to consult which ones allow the eVisa if their holiday includes arriving by ship.

Upon reaching any of these entry ports, Italian visitors should head to the immigration desks compatible with the eVisa. They will be required to submit their passport and printed copies of their granted eVisa and confirmation letter for inspection before being allowed to enter the country.

Italian citizens must not stay longer than the 30 days permitted for their visit. Both their entry and departure must comply with the eVisa’s validity of 90 days.

Visas on arrival in Tanzania for Italian citizens

Italians are eligible to obtain a visa on arrival once they reach Tanzania. This option is adequate if they have not had the chance to apply beforehand. Nevertheless, travelers should bear in mind that the visa on arrival sometimes entails long queues at passport control, sometimes after long intercontinental flights, and paying the visa fees in cash.

The eVisa is regarded as the most convenient and time-saving option for Italian tourists taking a holiday in Tanzania.
