The eVisa for the Sultanate of Oman is an online visa available to tourists from around 70 countries worldwide, including Canada. It grants eligible travelers the authorization needed to visit Oman for tourism and leisure purposes.

The Royal Oman Police introduced the eVisa in 2018, which shortens the waiting period usually required for standard visa applications at an Omani embassy or consulate.

Canadian nationals can request this Omani online visa from the comfort of their home and within minutes since the system is fully electronic.

eVisas Available for Canadians Traveling to Oman

The Omani visa policy publishes the different online visas available to foreign visitors. Canadian petitioners can choose one of the following eVisa options:

  • 26B eVisa – eVisa valid for a stay of 30 days and grants a single entry
  • 36B eVisa – eVisa valid for 12 months and grants multiple visits during this period; each visit can be of up to 1 month.

Canadian passport holders residing in any of the neighboring Gulf Cooperation Council countries are eligible to apply for a 29A GCC eVisa.

They will simply have to confirm they possess a GCC Residence Card of more than 180 days and be a qualified professional to apply.

Requirements for Canadian Applicants Seeking the Oman eVisa

It is recommendable to read the visa conditions for Canadians before making any arrangements for a trip to Oman.

The Royal Oman Police lists the following requirements for the eVisa that Canadian nationals must meet to enter Oman:

  • Have a Canadian passport with 6 months’ validity from their arrival in Oman
  • Provide a digital copy of their passport’s biographical page
  • Possess a recently taken ID photo (passport-style) in digital format
  • Register the eVisa request with an email address
  • Use a debit or credit card to pay the eVisa fee

If Canadian travelers have a passport that will expire within 6 months of their trip to Oman, they must renew it with their local authorities before applying for the eVisa.

Please note the electronic visa for Oman is a unique visa that is automatically linked to the holder’s Canadian passport and cannot be shared or transferred to a second document.

If any of the applicants from Canada do not meet these requirements or are planning trips for longer stays in Oman or for reasons other than tourism, they must schedule a personal visit to an Omani embassy for further information.

Applying for the Oman eVisa from Canada

Canadian citizens can apply for the Oman eVisa once they comply with the requirements established by the Omani government. They will access an online questionnaire with standard questions regarding their travel plans, personal information, and passport details.

The eVisa form can be completed within 20 to 30 minutes. To begin the application, Canadians will have to confirm their registration and provide the following personal information:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Email account
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Phone number

Canadian applicants are recommended to carefully review their information since any mistakes or typos cannot be corrected and could result in a rejection of their visa application.

The eVisa form is concluded by uploading the digital copies of the passport’s biographical page and ID photo, and paying the processing fee.

Processing times of the Omani eVisa for Canadian citizens

The Royal Oman Police evaluates all the applications received for the eVisa. This is a swift process where Canadian nationals usually receive a resolution to their request in 24 hours. To account for busy touristic periods, it is recommended to submit your eVisa request at least 72 hours before your intended arrival.

Applicants from Canada who have submitted their online Oman visa form correctly will receive a confirmation email where they can download the eVisa as a PDF document and print their eVisa. The online visa is automatically linked to their passport upon issuance.

Traveling to Oman from Canada with the eVisa

The eVisa allows Canadian visitors to travel to Oman by selected airports such as the Muscat International Airport, Khasab Airport, or Salalah Airport.

They can also choose to enter Oman by sea or road at authorized ports of entry.

Upon reaching any border crossing, we recommend visitors from Canada head straight to the queues for eVisa travelers to save time at passport controls, where they will be required to submit their passport and eVisa for inspection before being allowed to enter the country for their visit.

Canadian citizens should ensure their arrival and departure plans are within the authorized dates on their approved eVisas.
