Oman eVisa Requirements for Citizens of the United States

  • Simplified Application Form
  • Expert Application Review
  • Approved visa or money back

Oman introduced an electronic visa in 2018 to facilitate the application process for foreign citizens visiting their country for tourism, which includes American travelers.

US nationals can apply for the Oman eVisa online from the comfort of their home. They do not need to organize a trip to an embassy or consular office and can submit their request in less than 30 minutes.

Types of eVisas Available to Americans Traveling to Oman

The visa policy for Oman specifies which nationalities are eligible for their online visas and the conditions they must meet. Depending on the US visitor’s nationality, there are different sets of eVisas to Oman available.

Travelers from the United States can choose between the following Omani eVisa types:

  • A 30-day stay, single-entry eVisa to Oman
  • A 30-day stay, multiple-entry Omani eVisa
  • A 28-day, single-entry Oman electronic visa, which is only available to those US nationals who have a legal residence permit or visa from one of the neighboring GCC countries and are part of the qualified professional group that is considered eligible.

Other supporting documents might be requested depending on the specific, individual characteristics of the US citizen.

Requirements for US Citizens to Apply for the Omani eVisa

Before proceeding to the application process, we recommend reading through the visa requirements for US citizens.

The following are the conditions that the Royal Oman Police requests from travelers of the United States:

  • Possess an American passport with a validity of 6 months on their arrival date in Oman
  • Provide digital copies of their passport’s biographical page and a recently taken ID photo
  • Register their eVisa application with an active email address
  • Have a debit or credit card to pay the eVisa processing fee.

Travelers from the United States must ensure their passport will be valid for 180 days minimum on their arrival date in Oman. If this condition is not met, we request that they send it for renewal with their local authorities at their earliest possibility.

American applicants will also have to ensure they possess good quality and readable digital images of their passport’s biographical page and of a recent ID photo.

We recommend confirming US nationals’ bank cards have been activated for online payments, and the email address they will use during registration is a frequently accessed one.

Since the Oman eVisa is primarily a short-term visa for tourism purposes, US passport holders interested in long-term visits or job-seeking opportunities must schedule an appointment at the Omani Embassy in Washington DC for further details.

Oman eVisa Application Process for US Citizens

The Oman eVisa is available to visitors from the United States via an online questionnaire. It consists of basic travel questions that can be answered within 30 minutes.

As soon as they begin, US applicants will be required to share some personal information such as the following:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Mobile number
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • Nationality

They will then receive an email to confirm their registration. Once they have done this, they can continue with their Oman eVisa request. They will have to share their US passport details and upload the digital images of their passport’s biographical page and a personal photograph.

Applicants from the United States should ensure that all the information they are sharing is correct and matches their passport. Any misinformation or typo could lead to a rejection of their petition.

They will then finalize the Oman eVisa form by paying the processing fee. The payment is issued via a secure digital platform, and American nationals must simply confirm their card has been previously activated for online payments and carries sufficient funds.

US minors traveling to Oman with an eVisa

Visitors from the United States planning a family vacation with minors should note that each arrival must enter Oman with an approved eVisa beforehand. They must apply for each travel permit individually.

There is no problem if they use the same email address and payment methods for their separate applications.

Evaluation Process of the Omani eVisas Requested by American Applicants

The Royal Oman Police analyzes all the requests received by US citizens. The analysis is very swift, and, within 24 hours, they receive a resolution to their Oman visa application.

If their Omani eVisa form has been correctly filled in, American nationals will receive a confirmation email, and the online visa will be automatically linked to their passport.

To account for busy periods during the tourist season, we recommend submitting their application for the eVisa at least 72 hours before their arrival.

Upon receiving the approved eVisa notification, it is also advised that US travelers print out a copy of the online visa and store it next to their travel documents before their departure.

Traveling from the United States to Oman with an eVisa

Before traveling to Oman, US visitors should ensure their arrival date and departure complies with the approved dates and eVisas validity. They can access the country by any authorized international port of entry by sea, air, or road.

Upon reaching any border crossing, we recommend heading straight to the waiting lines reserved for eVisa travelers to save time at passport controls, where citizens of the United States will be required to submit their travel documents and eVisa for inspection before being granted entry into the country.
