Saudi Arabian Citizens Now Eligible for the India eVisa

Saudi Arabian citizens are now eligible for the India eVisa. The online application only takes a few minutes and removes the need to go to an embassy or consulate to apply for a visa.

Applications only take 72 hours to process and the eVisas allow visitors to stay in India for up to 90 days. The India eVisas are valid for a year (from the date of issue) and allow a single entry into India.

India’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ausaf Sayeed, said: “I am happy to announce that the e-visa facility is now available to Saudi nationals, and all related agencies have been informed.”

“Saudi nationals can apply for the visa online from the comfort of their homes or from anywhere in the world,” he said.

There are 3 different types of India eVisas which Saudi Arabians can now apply for: tourist visas, business visas, and medical visas.

The Improving Relationship Between India and Saudi Arabia

India and Saudi Arabia have been trying to improve their bilateral relationship over recent years. Narendra Modi, India’s Prime Minister, visited Riyadh in April 2016 and the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, went to New Delhi in February this year.

The Indian Government originally made the announcement in February but it has taken a few months to come into effect.

During his trip, Prince Mohammed said he saw investment opportunities worth more than $100bn in India over the next two years.

The Indian Government introduced the eVisa the boost tourism to India. Saudi Arabia join a list of over 100 eligible nationalities and the government may add even more in the future.

How Can Saudi Arabian Travelers Apply for an India eVisa?

To apply, applicants have to complete the India eVisa application form by entering information such as their name, address, date of birth, passport details, and travel plans. It is also necessary to submit a copy of their passport and to pay a fee using a credit or debit card.

Applicants are advised to carefully enter and revise all the information they provide as even very small mistakes can lead to complications and delays. The majority of applications are quickly approved within 72 hours.

Travelers receive approved India eVisas by email. They can enter India by presenting their electronic visa, along with their passport, at the Indian border.

Documents required for the India eVisa

To be able to apply for an India eVisa, applicants must provide the following documentation:

  • Valid Saudi Arabian passport (with at least 6 months remaining).
  • An active email address to receive the approved eVisa
  • A credit or debit card to pay the visa fee
  • A passport-style photo (which meets the requirements listed below)

Applicants are required to submit a passport-style photo which meets specifications such as: the applicant’s face must be clearly visible or that the photo must have been take recently (last 6 months), among others.
