What is the Myanmar eVisa for Canadians?

The Myanmar eVisa is an electronic visa that simplifies the process of entering the country from Canada and several other nations.

Applying for a Myanmar eVisa for Canadian citizens is quick and easy, as the entire process is done online and takes less than 15 minutes. Travelers from Canada can choose between a tourist or business eVisa, both of which are valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

Thanks to its digital format, eligible travelers from Canada can apply for the Myanmar eVisa online by answering a couple of questions, uploading a recent photo, and paying the processing fee.

Another convenience of the Myanmar eVisa for Canadian citizens is that there is no need to gather a mass of paperwork, visit the Myanmar embassy in person, or have a face-to-face interview with an immigration official.

Types of Myanmar eVisas available to Canadian visitors

There are 2 versions of the Myanmar eVisa available to Canadian passport holders: the tourist eVisa and the business eVisa. Here is a quick overview of each type:

Tourist eVisa — This type of Myanmar visa is made for Canadians planning to visit Myanmar as tourists (i.e. visit attractions, go sightseeing, or travel around the country).

The Myanmar tourist eVisa is a single-entry permit that allows the holder to spend up to 28 days in the country.

Business eVisa — Canadian citizens can apply for a Myanmar business eVisa if they are visiting Myanmar to do business-related activities.

This is an online, single-entry visa that permits Canadians to stay in Myanmar for up to 70 days. To obtain it, applicants must have an invitation from a registered company in Myanmar when applying.

Both the Myanmar tourist and business eVisas for Canadians are valid for 3 months from the date of approval. Likewise, when entering Myanmar, visitors are required to present their approved eVisa to gain entry into the country.

Entry Requirements for a Myanmar eVisa from Canada

According to Myanmar’s current visa policy, Canadian citizens who plan to apply for their Myanmar eVisa are required to have the following items:

  • A valid Canadian passport, with at least 6 months validity from the date of arrival
  • A form of payment, such as a credit or debit card
  • A recent colored photograph, taken within the last 6 months, of the applicant
  • A valid email address to receive the approved Myanmar eVisa

As part of Myanmar’s eVisa program, all arrivals are required to provide details about their stay in the country. This includes:

  • Information about their accommodation(s)
  • Proof of sufficient funds that will cover the duration of their trip
  • A valid form of onward travel (either to another country or back home).

Finally, citizens holding a Canadian passport must have a valid payment method, such as a debit or credit card, to complete the processing fee transaction.

Canadians are recommended to keep a physical copy of each document, including the eVisa approval letter, to quickly present to the immigration officer when arriving at the border.

They also are encouraged to take into consideration the general visa rules for Canadians traveling overseas.

How to Apply for the Myanmar eVisa from Canada?

The process to apply for a Myanmar eVisa for Canadian citizens is quick and easy. The entire process is done completely online and takes less than 15 minutes to do so.

The first step in applying for a Myanmar eVisa is to fill out the online application form.
