Mexico Application

The Mexico Tourist Card Requirements for Citizens of the United Kingdom

  • Simplified Application Form
  • Expert Application Review
  • Approved visa or money back

The Mexican government introduced the online application for the Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) to facilitate the process to obtain an entry authorization into the country.

The Mexican visa policy defines the conditions international visitors must meet to enter the country. Some nationalities require both a visa as well as an FMM to enter Mexico. UK passport holders are exempt from needing a visa and can apply straight for the Tourist Card provided they travel for any of the following purposes:

Leisure
Business
Sports competitions
Cultural events
Short stays for professional motives

The Mexico Tourist Card allows a single entry into Mexico by land or by air. Britons can choose to stay between for a week or alternatively for up to 6 months.

Requirements for British Travelers Obtain the FMM for Mexico

Before applying for the Forma Migratoria Multiple, we recommend reading the visa requirements for British citizens. UK passport holders are eligible to obtain their Forma Migratoria Multiple to enter Mexico provided they meet the following requirements:

  • Have a UK passport valid for 180 days on their arrival date
  • Register their FMM petition with an email address they frequently use
  • Provide a bank card to pay the Mexican Tourist Card fee

Visitors from the United Kingdom should take care that their passport will be valid for 6 months or more on the date they enter Mexico. If this condition is not met, we recommend they send it for renewal before their application.

Britons with dual citizenship must remember to apply for the Mexican Tourist Card with the same passport they will travel to Mexico. If they reach the country with a different passport, they will not be allowed to enter and will be obliged to request an FMM on arrival.

UK applicants must note that all communications regarding their petition will be issued online, so we recommend using a frequently accessed email account. It is also advisable to ensure their debit or credit card has been previously activated for online payments.

When will British citizens require a visa to enter Mexico?

UK passport holders will be required to have a visa to enter Mexico if their visit be for longer than 6 months or are traveling for the following reasons:

  • Full-time job-seeking opportunities
  • Long term academic studies
  • Relocation

In order to obtain a Mexican visa, they should schedule an appointment at the Mexican embassy in London.

Applying for the Mexico Tourist Card from the UK

The application for the FMM is available through an online form. British petitioners can fill in the questionnaire within a few minutes where they will be required to share the following information:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Citizenship
  • Gender
  • Address
  • Desired FMM option (7 days or 180 days)
  • Port of entry

British visitors will also be required to share their passport number, issue, and expiry date. They must ensure they have submitted accurate replies to the FMM form. Mistakes or missing information are a common cause of rejection.

Visiting Mexico with minors with the Forma Migratoria Múliple from the UK

Any traveling party in Mexico from the UK with underage citizens, such as a family holiday with children, must remember each arrival must have their own FMM previously granted. Parents or legal guardians can fill in their dependents’ applications on their behalf without any problems.

Payment of the Forma Migratoria Múltiple for Britons

UK petitioners conclude the FMM application process by paying the processing fee. The payment is issued through a secure digital platform where all major bank cards are accepted.

Traveling to Mexico with the FMM from the UK

Britons will receive a resolution to their petition for the Mexican Tourist Card within a few hours. If all their answers are correct and they meet the basic conditions, they will receive the approved FMM by email. Upon receipt, we recommend they print out a copy and keep it next to their travel documents.

The FMM consists of 2 slips of paper. Once British travelers reach a border crossing (international airports or highway checkpoints), they should head straight to the lines for Mexican Tourist Card holders.

Upon arriving, they should submit their passport for inspection and the first slip of paper for an entry stamp. They should keep the second slip of paper with them during their stay.

For their convenience, British visitors will find their allowed dates printed on their Tourist Card. They should take care not to overstay since this could carry fines and subsequent denials in the future.
