The Kuwaiti government created the Kuwait eVisa in 2016. This electronic visa is available online, and international travelers, including German nationals, can obtain it from the comfort of their homes without needing to visit an embassy.

The visa policies to visit Kuwait define the main features the Kuwait electronic visa grants German visitors. The eVisa allows for a single entry in Kuwait for 90 days for tourism purposes. Once granted, the Kuwait e-Visa allows German travelers 30 days to enter Kuwait.

Kuwait eVisa Requirements for German Citizens

We recommend reading through the requirements for international travel for German nationals before applying. The main conditions Germans must meet in order to request the eVisa are the following:

  • Possess a German passport valid for at least 190 days on the date they submit their application
  • Store a digital copy of the biographical page of their passport
  • Have a debit or credit card to pay the eVisa service fee
  • Apply with an email account

German applicants with dual citizenship must note that the Kuwait eVisa is electronically linked to the passport they use during their application. They should use the same passport they will later travel with. The length of the validity on the date they apply is very important. If their passport will expire within 190 days or less during their application, they must first send it for renewal.

We recommend German citizens to ensure they will use a bank card previously activated for international payments and they register with an email address they regularly use since all communications will be issued online.

German passport holders who want to relocate to Kuwait for professional opportunities or would like to stay for longer than 3 months in the country should contact the Embassy of Kuwait in Berlin or the Kuwaiti Consulate in Frankfurt for further details.

Kuwait eVisa Application Form for German Nationals

German citizens can proceed to the Kuwait eVisa application form once they confirm they meet the requirements mentioned previously. They will access an online questionnaire where they must share some personal and passport details. They will upload the digital copy of their passport’s biographical page and conclude the form by providing details regarding their accommodation.

German applicants should take care when answering the questions on the Kuwait eVisa application form. Their answers must match the information shown on their passport. Any mismatches or typos could lead to delays in their approval or a rejection of their request.

German groups visiting Kuwait with minors must note that they must obtain a separate eVisa for each traveler. Parents or legal guardians can fill in their dependents’ applications without any problems using the same email id and bank card.

German citizens conclude the eVisa request for Kuwait by paying the service fee. The payments are processed through a secure online system compatible with most international debit and credit cards.

Evaluation Process for the Kuwait eVisa by German Applicants

The Kuwaiti authorities evaluate the eVisa requests received. German travelers will usually receive a resolution to their application within 72 hours. Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email with their eVisa attached. Upon receipt, they should print out a copy and store it next to the rest of their travel documents.

German Citizens Traveling to Kuwait with the eVisa

German tourists with the approved eVisa have 30 days to enter Kuwait. They can choose to travel by air, road or sea. If they do not reach the country within a month of having received their electronic visa, this will no longer be valid, and they will have to reapply.

Upon arriving in Kuwait, German visitors will have to submit their passports and printed eVisas for inspection at border checkpoints to be allowed entry into the country. We recommend they keep their printed copy of their eVisas with them at all times during their stay.

German travelers transiting through Kuwait are exempt from needing a Kuwait eVisa if they remain inside the airport’s International Transit Area. If they wish to briefly exit the airport for some quick sightseeing or shopping, they can do so but must have an approved eVisa beforehand and plan their return to their departure gate punctually.

Can German visitors extend their Kuwait eVisa during their visit?

Yes, German nationals already in Kuwait who need to prolong their stay are allowed to obtain a Kuwait eVisa extension. During their request for this extension, they will have to have the reference number of their current eVisa at hand.
