The Kenyan visa online for German passport offers travelers from Germany a quick, simple way to secure an eVisa for short trips to Kenya. It is a single-entry visa that grants German citizens a stay of 90 consecutive days in Kenya.

Once issued, the eVisa Kenya is valid for use for 3 months and can be used to travel to Kenya from Germany at any point within that period.

German citizens should apply for the Kenyan eVisa if they plan to visit Kenya for short stays for the purposes of:

  • Seeing friends or relatives

The Kenya visa policy states that Germans visiting the country for other reasons (to live, work, or study, for example), or for longer stays than those permitted with an eVisa, are required to visit their nearest Kenyan consulate or embassy in person to apply for the appropriate long-stay visa.

To apply for the Kenyan eVisa from Germany, you simply need to fill out a short online form. This form will ask for your full name, date of birth, German passport number, and a few other basic personal and travel details.

To complete the eVisa Kenya application form, you will also be required to answer a few questions relating to security and health matters, as well as your travel plans during your stay in Kenya.

Then, German citizens are asked to complete the Kenya eVisa application fee payment. This can be done via a credit or debit card that is valid and authorized for electronic, international transactions.

When applying for the Kenyan online visa as a German citizen, it is important to carefully double-check all the details you provide on the form, as this will ensure the application is processed without unnecessary delays or complications. Even small errors on the form may result in a processing delay and an increased wait to receive an approved eVisa.

When should German travelers receive their online Kenya visa?

Citizens of Germany should expect to receive an email with the approved Kenya eVisa up to 8 business days after submitting their requests.

The email contains a PDF document, which is the Kenya electronic visa that should be printed out.

In some cases, this period can be shorter (5 business days). Please always ensure to check your email account’s spam folder in case the online visa message is there.

What Documents Do I Need to Apply for the Kenya eVisa from Germany?

Before you submit your eVisa Kenya application from Germany, you should make sure you have a couple of key documents and comply with the minimum conditions to be considered eligible.Kenyan visa requirements for German citizens state that it is necessary to have:

  • A valid German passport with an expiry date at least 6 months after the date of intended arrival in Kenya
  • An image of the German passport’s information page
  • A recent passport-size color photo
  • Proof of plans for travel to/within Kenya, such as transportation bookings, hotel reservations etc.
  • A valid electronic payment method (i.e., debit or credit card) to pay the Kenyan online visa application processing fee
  • A valid email address to receive the approved Kenya eVisa from Germany.

In addition, Germans applying for the Kenya eVisa should check that the passport contains at least 2 blank pages, as this space will be needed to receive entry/exit stamps from Kenyan border authorities when arriving in and leaving the country.

How to Travel from Germany with the Kenyan Online Visa

Once their eVisa Kenya application has been approved, applicants will have their travel document linked to the German passport electronically. Additionally, they will receive a PDF of their approved Kenyan eVisa sent via email.Before traveling from Germany to Kenya, it is important to print a physical copy of the eVisa Kenya travel document and keep it with the passport to be used for travel.

Other necessary items of documentation that German citizens visiting Kenya should carry include:

  • Proof of enough funds to cover the whole stay in Kenya
  • Proof of travel out of Kenya, either back to Germany or onwards to a third country (i.e., flight bookings, train tickets etc.)
  • Proof of lodgings in Kenya (i.e., hostel bookings, hotel reservations, or other accommodation)

This documentation may be requested by Kenyan border authorities alongside the copy of the German traveler’s eVisa when the holder arrives in the country.

Can German visitors ask for a Kenya eVisa extension?

All eligible travelers, including German citizens, are allowed to ask for a Kenya eVisa extension once they are in the country.

This extension request must be completed in Nairobi (Immigration Headquarters) before the expiration date of the current eVisa. Once granted, the visa extension allows German visitors to stay in the country for an extra 90 days.
