How Does the Kenya eVisa for French Work?

In 2015, Kenya made it possible for citizens of over 140 countries, including France, to apply for an electronic visa, also known as an eVisa, to gain authorization to enter the country.

The eVisa has been an entry requirement for French visitors to Kenya since 2021, when the online system completely replaced the previous visa on arrival service.

The approved Kenya eVisa permits citizens of France a stay of up to 90 consecutive days in the country.

This eVisa permits the holder to stay in Kenya for short stays for purposes of tourism, business, or medical reasons.

Kenya eVisa validity for France

The online visa for Kenya for French visitors is valid to use for 3 months from the date of issue.

The Kenya e-Visa for citizens of France is a single-entry eVisa. This means that a new visa is required for each entry. There is currently no multiple-entry visit visa for Kenya.

It is possible for French applicants to extend their eVisa once they are in Kenya for another 90 days. This can be achieved by visiting the immigration headquarters in Nairobi on the day that the Kenya eVisa expires.

Applying for the Kenya eVisa is quick and straightforward for citizens of France.

Kenya’s visa requirements for French nationals include providing the following items:

  • Current email address
  • Credit or debit card to cover the processing fee

Your French passport should be valid for at least 6 months from your intended date of entry into the country. It should also have at least 2 blank pages for the immigration stamps on entry and exit to Kenya.

You may also be asked for proof of accommodation for your stay and, if relevant, a referral or invitation letter from your host.

Once your eVisa is approved, it is electronically linked to your French passport. This means that if you lose your passport or it is stolen before you travel to Kenya, you will be required to apply for a new eVisa using your new passport details.

If the passport expires before the end of the Kenya eVisa’s validity period, the visa will expire as well.

How Do I Apply for the Kenya eVisa as a French National?

You must provide some basic personal information, including:
