Kenya eVisa Requirements for Canadian Citizens

  • Simplified Application Form
  • Expert Application Review
  • Approved visa or money back

Since 2015, Canadian travelers are eligible to apply online for a Kenyan eVisa.

This electronic travel document to enter Kenya from Canada allows citizens to visit the country for several purposes and for a maximum of 90 consecutive days. Canadians can use the eVisa to access Kenya only once.

To successfully receive your Kenya eVisa, you must follow the Kenya eVisa requirements for Canadian nationals.

What is the Kenya eVisa for Canadians and How Does It Work?

All Canadians traveling to Kenya require a visa to gain authorization to enter the country.

If you are a citizen of Canada traveling for reasons of tourism, medical reasons, or business you can apply for a Kenya eVisa.

The process of applying for the Kenya eVisa takes place entirely online. The form is straightforward to fill in and submit and takes just a few minutes to complete.

Once the Kenya eVisa for Canadians is approved, the authorization is automatically linked to your Canadian passport electronically.

Kenya visa’s validity for Canadian citizens

The online visa authorizes the holder a single entry to Kenya for a stay of up to 90 days and is valid for up to 3 months from the date of issue.

If you leave Kenya during those 90 days, you cannot re-enter the country unless you have applied for, and received, a new eVisa.

If you plan to travel to Kenya for other reasons, such as study or relocation, you should visit a Kenya embassy or consulate to find out about other visa options.

Application Steps for the Kenya eVisa as a Canadian Passport Holder

Canadians wishing to apply for a Kenya eVisa should fill in and submit Kenya’s online visa application form.

On the form, you will be asked questions regarding your personal data. You will also be asked about your travel arrangements for arriving in and leaving Kenya.

Some of the questions that applicants of Canada need to answer are the following:

  • Full name
  • Date and place of birth
  • Email address
  • Home address
  • Telephone number
  • Passport number
  • Passport issuance date
  • Passport expiry date

After responding to these questions, Canadians must pay the Kenyan eVisa processing fee. All major debit and credit cards are accepted.

Finally, travelers must double-check the information provided and submit the online form.

Kenya eVisa extension for Canadian visitors

If you wish to extend your stay in Kenya beyond 90 days, this is possible by visiting Nairobi’s immigration department on the day that your current eVisa expires.

Once there, citizens of Canada will be issued with a new tourist visa that authorizes you to stay for an additional 90 days.

What are the Kenya eVisa Requirements for Canadians?

To successfully apply for your Kenya eVisa you are required to have certain documents and information when applying. It is recommended that you have the following with you when making your application:

  • A Canadian passport with more than 6 months of validity from your intended date of arrival in Kenya
  • A minimum of 2 blank pages in the passport so that immigration can add their stamps on entering and leaving the country
  • A color passport-style photo of the Canadian applicant
  • There is an eVisa processing fee to pay, so you require a valid credit or debit card to pay it online
  • An email address where updates to your application and your approved eVisa will be sent.

Other Kenya electronic visa requirements might include providing information on where you will be staying in Kenya and what funds you have access to during your time in the country, as well as routine health-related and security-related questions.

Kenya eVisa’s processing time for Canada

Your Kenya eVisa is usually processed within 24 to 48 hours, which makes the online visa the best alternative when visiting the country from Canada.

It is recommended that you allow at least 7 days for processing, especially if you are applying during peak travel times.

What to do after receiving the Kenya eVisa for Canadians?

Canadians should print out a copy of their Kenya eVisa to bring with them on their trip to Kenya, or simply have a digital copy on their electronic devices.

The same goes for the Canadian passport, which must be presented upon arrival.

It is also recommended to bring:

  • Proof that you have enough funds to cover your Kenyan trip
  • Proof of hotel reservations
  • Proof of onward or return travel (for example, your plane ticket).

Citizens of Canada must remember that, according to the Kenya visa policy, the eVisa allows a single entry into the country.
