Kenya Tourist Visa Information

The Kenya eVisa, introduced in 2015, is an electronic visa which allows eligible travelers to visit the country.

It is quick and easy to apply for a Kenya visa online. Simply enter your details into a short online form and then receive the eVisa by email.

The Kenya online visa allows a stay of up to 90 consecutive days in Kenya. eVisa holders also have the option to extend their visit once in Kenya, for an additional stay of up to 90 days.

The eVisa is valid to use and enter Kenya for 3 months from the date of issue.

The eVisa for Kenya is a single-entry visa. For multiple trips to Kenya, simply reapply online.

The online system was implemented by the government of the Republic of Kenya to make the visa application service quicker and more efficient for visitors.

Upon approval, the Kenya eVisa is electronically linked to the applicant’s passport and a copy in PDF format is sent to the applicant via email.

Kenya eVisa Requirements

Getting a visa for Kenya is a simple process. In order to apply a Kenyan online visa application, it is first necessary for the applicant to have the following:

  • Passport from an eligible country valid for at least 6 months from the intended entry date
  • At least 2 blank pages available inside the passport to receive exit/entry stamps at the Kenyan border
  • Copy of the passport information page
  • Recent travelers’ color photograph, passport size
  • A valid debit or credit card to pay the Kenyan online visa application fee
  • Proof of travel — this can be a confirmation email from your hotel reservation, flight confirmation, invitation or referral letter, or travel itinerary
  • A current email address at which to receive the travel visa to Kenya

After submitting the Kenya visa application form and receiving the approved Kenya tourist visa,  it is necessary to print at least 1 copy of the eVisa to present upon arrival, alongside the following:

  • The same passport used to complete the Kenya eVisa application form
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of the stay
  • Proof of return/onward travel (eg: an airline ticket)
  • Proof of hotel reservations

Kenya is once again open to international travel and passengers can apply for a visa online. Passengers over the age of 18 must have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they are fully vaccinated and upload it before traveling, or have a recovery certificate. Nationals of Kenya not residing in Kenya who have difficulty accessing COVID-19 vaccines are subject to vaccination on arrival. They must register online before traveling. Unvaccinated passengers over the age of 5 must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result in English, taken within 72 hours before departure. Vaccination certificates and test results must be uploaded before embarking. All travelers must also complete a Kenya Travelers Health Surveillance Form online before departure to obtain a QR code necessary to enter the country.
