Indian travelers should note the Ethiopia tourist eVisa allows entry to Ethiopia via Bole International Airport only. It does not grant access via land border crossings or seaports. Bole International Airport is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital, with excellent connections with the rest of the country.
Indians visitors at Bole International Airport with their approved online visa can head straight to the eVisa fast track counter at the airport’s passport control. The eVisa fast track is a very convenient and time-saving option for international travelers who have just arrived in the country.
If an Indian traveler has their passport stolen or misplaced before traveling to Ethiopia, their previously granted eVisa becomes invalidated. They must reapply for a new Ethiopian tourist eVisa with the newly issued passport details. Indian applicants should note the tourist visa is linked electronically to the original Indian passport and is not transferable to a new document.
If Indian nationals want to travel to Ethiopia for reasons other than tourism, they will require a different visa detailed in the Ethiopian visa policy.
Indians who want to extend their stay in Ethiopia can request a 30-day extension of their eVisa at the Head Office of the Main Department for Immigration and Nationality Affairs in Addis Ababa. They will need to apply in person and pay the extension fee.
