USA ESTA Requirements for Danish Citizens

  • Simplified Application Form
  • Expert Application Review
  • Approved visa or money back

The US Electronic System for Travel Authorization (US ESTA) allows citizens from selected countries, including Denmark, to comfortably obtain authorization to travel to the United States. The process to get a US ESTA is quick and convenient, as it takes less than 15 minutes by completing an online application form.

US ESTA Benefits for Danish Travelers

The US visa policy details different options available to international travelers for visiting the country. Obtaining a US ESTA for Danish citizens is highly advantageous for Danish passport holders.

Firstly, the US ESTA is valid for up to 2 years from the date of issue, which gives the traveler ample time to visit the United States.

Secondly, the US ESTA allows the traveler to stay in the country for up to 90 days and is a multiple-entry visa waiver.

Finally, this travel authorization is valid for tourism, business, and transit, allowing travelers to avoid having to obtain a separate visa for each of the reasons above.

Danish passport holders interested in traveling to the United States for long-term studies or seeking full-time employment should note the ESTA does not cover these activities. They should arrange a visit to the American embassy in Copenhagen and enquire as to which authorization they will need.

USA ESTA Requirements for Danish Citizens

Danish nationals must check the requirements for international travel for Danes before filling out their application form. They are detailed below:

  • A valid Danish passport
  • An active email address
  • A credit or debit card

Denmark is part of the “Six-Month Club” — a list of countries whose nationals are not obliged to have a passport valid for at least 6 months on the date they intend to arrive in the US. The scheme was introduced by the US Department of Homeland Security in 2014.

Danish travelers are simply required to ensure their passports will be valid during their entire stay in the country (regardless of the expiry date).

Additionally, Danish applicants must ensure they use a frequently used email address since the American authorities will issue the ESTA and other communications by email only. Lastly, Danish nationals are advised to check their card has been previously authorized for international online transactions before proceeding to the payment section on the application form.

How to Apply for a USA ESTA From Denmark?

The application process for Danish travelers to obtain a US ESTA is very convenient and straightforward. The form is a simple questionnaire that can be completed in 15 minutes.

Danes will be required to submit the following personal and passport information:

  • Full name
  • Home address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Emergency contact
  • Date of birth
  • Country of birth
  • Nationality
  • Passport number
  • Passport issuance date
  • Passport expiry date

They will then proceed to answer some health and security-related questions. These include questions about the following:

  • Occupation
  • Security background
  • Medical history
  • Any previous visits to the United States

We recommend that Danes go through their application and ensure that the information is complete, correct, and accurate. If the application is incomplete or incorrect, it could interfere with the evaluation process, with delays in the approval or even denial of the visa waiver.

US ESTA for underage Danish travelers

Danish families planning a family visit or schools organizing an academic trip to the USA must submit an individual application for each minor. Parents or legal guardians are authorized to submit the application on behalf of their dependents and use their own email address for their children’s applications.

Payment of the US ESTA by Danish applicants

Once Danes have answered all the questions in the application form and checked them, they finalize the process with the ESTA fee payment. As mentioned above, we recommend checking that the card they use has been previously activated for online transactions and carries sufficient funds.

How Will Danish Applicants Receive Their US ESTA?

The US Department of Homeland Security evaluates all the applications received and usually replies with ESTAS issued to international travelers between 24 and 72 hours.

The approved ESTA is sent to the Danish traveler in a confirmation email with the entry authorization attached as a PDF. As soon as it is granted, the ESTA is automatically linked to the Danish applicants’ passports.

On average, the evaluation takes 24 hours. However, we recommend sending an application at least 3 working days before their departure. If any of the applications have not been approved, we recommend that they contact the American embassy for further assistance.

Entering the USA With the ESTA From Denmark

Once Danes receive their ESTA, they are allowed to travel to the US. Unlike some other online travel authorizations, the ESTA is electronically linked to the visitors’ passports, and therefore it is not mandatory to print out a copy.
