French passport holders are eligible to obtain the Egyptian e-Visa. Before proceeding to the application form, we recommend they first read through the French citizens’ international travel requirements. The main conditions for the Egyptian e-Visa are listed below:
- Have a French passport valid for at least 6 months on the intended arrival date
- Provide a frequently used email address
- Use a debit or credit card
- Supply proof of accommodation in Egypt
Submit a digital photo of the applicant (passport-style)
- Have a digital image of the passport’s biographical page
French nationals who have a passport that will expire in less than six months on the date they intend to visit Egypt must first renew it before submitting their e-Visa form. They should also upload digital copies of their passport’s biographical page and a recent id photo.
The e-Visa is a unique online visa and will be automatically linked to the holders’ passports. It is not transferable to a second travel document. This is especially important for French citizens with dual nationality or who are planning to renew their passport after requesting the e-Visa.
We recommend they apply with a frequently used email address. The Egyptian government will issue all communications plus the approved e-Visa via email. French travelers must also confirm their accommodation details in Egypt during the application process.
Lastly, since the payment of the e-Visa will be made electronically, French applicants are recommended to check their cards have been previously activated for online payments.
French passport holders who wish to travel to Egypt for longer periods of time and purposes other than touristic visits such as job-seeking opportunities should schedule an appointment at the Egyptian embassy in Paris or Consulate in Marseille for further information.
