Egypt e-Visa for US Citizens

  • Simplified Application Form
  • Expert Application Review
  • Approved visa or money back

The Egyptian e-Visa, also known as the Electronic Egypt Tourist Visa, was introduced in 2017 to simplify the visa process for travelers from a number of countries, including the United States, who wish to visit Egypt.

This Egyptian e-Visa, as it is commonly called, is valid for American travelers who wish to travel to Egypt for the purpose of tourism.

It is possible to apply for an Egyptian e-Visa for US citizens entirely online and the process takes less than 15 minutes. This means that you can now obtain your Egypt visa online from the comfort of your own home without the need to visit an Egyptian embassy in person or wait in long queues to get an Egypt visa on arrival.

What is the Egyptian e-Visa for US Citizens?

The Egyptian e-Visa is a document that allows American passport holders to enter Egypt. When applying for their e-Visa, travelers are able to choose if they wish to obtain a single-entry or a multiple-entry visa online. Those who opt to get the multiple-entry document are allowed to enter Egypt as many times as they wish during its validity.

The Egyptian e-Visa for US nationals allows travelers to stay in Egypt for a maximum of 30 days. It is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. This means that travelers are able to enter Egypt within 90 days from the date that their e-Visa was approved.

Egypt e-Visa Requirements for Nationals of the USA

The Egpytian visa policy states that there are only a handful of e-Visa requirements for American citizens. These are the only things that you need in order to apply for the Egyptian e-Visa:

  • A valid and up to date US-issued passport – Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date that you plan to enter Egypt. If you are a dual citizen, you must use the same passport to apply for the Egyptian e-Visa that you will later use to enter Egypt.
  • A recent photograph of the applicant – This must be a passport-sized photo that was taken within the last 6 months.
  • A scanned image of the biographical page of the applicant’s passport – This is the page where all of the applicant’s information (i.e. passport number, full name, nationality, photo) is found.
  • A form of payment in order to pay the processing fee. You can pay for your Egypt-Visa with a valid credit card or debit card.
  • An email address to receive notifications about the status of your Egyptian online visa. We recommend checking this email inbox often so that you can be notified when your approved e-Visa is ready.

What to Do if One of Your US Documents Expires

If your US passport is expired, damaged, or lost, you will be required to apply for a new Egyptian e-Visa with your new document.

This is due to the fact that you must present the same passport that was used for the Egypt e-Visa application to Egyptian immigration authorities on arrival. We recommend double-checking the expiration date and keeping your passport in a safe place in order to avoid any problems.

How to Apply for an Egyptian e-Visa From the United States

There are a handful of steps to obtain the Egyptian e-Visa for citizens of the United States of America. The first step is to fill out your information on the online application.

This form will ask you to answer a few questions about your personal information, which usually takes less than 15 minutes to complete. Some of the questions that you will find on the application will ask you about your full name (first name and surname), date of birth, marital status, and parent’s names.

Afterwards, the form will ask for your passport information (passport number and expiration date) as well as contact information (email address and home address). The second part of the application form will ask about your current and previous trips to Egypt (if any) as well as a couple of simple yes/no questions.

After you have completed the Egypt e-Visa application form, we recommend that you go through your answers and double-check to make sure that all the information is correct and true. Otherwise, this can nullify your application and you will need to start over again.

The final step before you can submit your Egypt e-Visa application from the US is to pay the processing fee with a valid form of payment, such as a credit card or debit card.

How long does it take to get an Egyptian e-Visa from the US?

The average processing time of the Egypt e-Visa for citizens of the United States is less than 7 business days.

Due to this, we recommend that all travelers apply for their Egyptian e-Visa for at least 7 days before their scheduled flight to Egypt, in the rare case of any processing delays with the application.
