The ArriveCAN Form for Canada

The Canada ArriveCAN system is a safety measure introduced by the Canadian government to control the spread of COVID-19. It is one of the country’s various coronavirus travel restrictions.

Canada is one of a number of countries that have introduced travel health certificates as an entry requirement. These provide a way to monitor potential imported cases of coronavirus. With this measure in place, Canada has been able to open its borders to certain travelers. At the same time, it is protecting Canadian citizens and travelers.

The travel health certificate for Canada is found online. Travelers must enter and submit the relevant details before going to Canada. This is quick and straightforward, taking just a few minutes.

Passengers can access the form easily through this site.

How Does ArriveCAN Work?

ArriveCAN features a Canada travel health form that must be completed by incoming passengers. This is a quick and simple process.

Once the ArriveCAN form for Canada has been submitted, the applicant will receive a receipt via email.

The receipt must be shown to a border services officer upon arrival in Canada. Travelers can present their ArriveCAN receipt in the following formats:

  • Screenshot
  • In the email they received
  • Papy copy
  • Via the ArriveCAN app

ArriveCAN must also be used after arriving in Canada. Travelers must log into the system and confirm that they have arrived at a government-authorized hotel or the place they specified they would complete the mandatory quarantine period.

Arrivals must also complete self-assessments using ArriveCAN each day until the end of their quarantine. This is a quick survey that asks if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.

From July 5 2021, travelers who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to upload their proof of vaccination via ArriveCAN. Depending on the circumstances, this might exempt them from quarantine, having to stay at a hotel for 3 nights, and/or being tested on day 8 after arrival.

Who Needs to Complete the ArriveCAN Form for Canada?

The majority of international passengers arriving in Canada must complete the ArriveCAN form. This includes both Canadian citizens and foreign visitors.

The travel health certificate for Canada is mandatory for all travelers arriving by the following means:

  • Air
  • Land

Those arriving by sea are not obliged to complete the ArriveCAN form for Canada since there may be technological limitations. However, it is still strongly recommended.

If it is not possible to complete the form at sea, the traveler must spend time at the Canadian border providing the information in person.

The electronic process of providing the information is quicker, faster, and safer, which is why the Canadian government introduced the ArriveCAN platform.

Do I need to complete the ArriveCAN online registration if I am transiting through Canada?

Travelers passing through Canada on the way to a third destination will need to complete the health declaration form application via ArriveCAN if they plan to leave the secure area of the airport.

For example, those who are stopping over for the night in a hotel before their next flight, or anyone who has to clear immigration and enter the country must register using ArriveCAN.

However, passengers who change from one flight to another without leaving the secure area at the airport are exempt from ArriveCAN registration.

How Do I Fill Out My ArriveCAN app?

The ArriveCAN form must be completed no more than 72 hours before the traveler arrives in Canada.

The following information must be provided before traveling:

  • Contact information
  • Reference code for a 3-night stay at a government-approved hotel (air travelers only)
