Cambodia eVisa Requirements for Citizens of the United States

  • Simplified Application Form
  • Expert Application Review
  • Approved visa or money back

Americans can travel to Cambodia with an eVisa. The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation implemented an electronic visa in 2006. It grants authorization to enter the country for tourism and leisure.

The eVisa for Cambodia is an electronic travel document that US travelers can obtain from the comfort of their homes. They do not need to schedule an appointment at an embassy or consulate. The whole process is highly convenient, 100% online, and can be completed within 20 to 30 minutes

Main Features of the eVisa for Cambodia for American Visitors

The visa policy for Cambodia publishes the main benefits of the eVisa and what activities foreign nationals can partake in with one.

US passport holders are among the most important nationalities traveling to Cambodia every year. The online visa is ideal if their travel plans for Cambodia meet the following criteria:

  • Their visit will be for tourism and leisure purposes
  • They only require a single entry into the country
  • Their visit will not exceed 30 consecutive days

American nationals should note that Cambodia’s eVisa does not authorize them to take up any professional activities or long-term relocations.

If US applicants plan to visit the country for over a month or motives other than tourism, we recommend they pay a visit to the Embassy of Cambodia in Washington DC for further details.

Requirements for Travelers from the US to Apply for the Cambodian eVisa

Before initiating the application for the eVisa, we recommend reading the visa requirements for US citizens. They will find information about which countries they can visit with an online visa and activities they can carry out.

The requirements for the Cambodian eVisa for American travelers include the following:

  • Have a US passport with a validity of at least 6 months on the intended date of entry
  • Confirm the American passport includes at least 2 blank pages available for entry and exit stamps
  • Use a current email address to submit their eVisa application
  • Provide a credit or debit card to pay the eVisa processing fee
  • Supply a recently taken passport-size ID photo in color

Americans with a passport that does not meet the validity of 180 days or does not include 2 blank pages are advised to send it for renewal with their local authorities before they apply for the eVisa.

US citizens with dual nationality should note the Cambodia electronic visa is electronically linked to the passport they applied with. If they travel to Cambodia with a different travel document, they will not be granted entry.

We recommend that American visitors submit the Cambodia eVisa request with an email address that is frequently accessed and confirming the bank card used to pay the processing fee is activated for online payments.

Application Process for the Cambodian eVisa for US Travelers

American nationals can submit their eVisa request by accessing an online form. They will be required to provide the following personal information:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Citizenship
  • Email account
  • Telephone number

US requesters will then continue by sharing their passport details (number, issuing country, expiry date). They should carefully review the information they are supplying since any mistakes or typos can interfere with their eVisa evaluation.

Americans planning a family holiday with children in Cambodia should consider that each traveler must have their own eVisa previously approved before their trip. This is regardless of their age or if they share their details with one of their parents’ or guardians’ passports.

Applicants from the US conclude the eVisa by paying the Cambodia e-Visa processing fee. The payment is actioned through a secure digital platform where most international debit or credit cards are accepted.

Cambodia’s eVisa processing times for Americans

The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation evaluates all the forms submitted by US citizens. The processing time for the eVisa can take from 3 to 4 business days.

If the eVisa forms have been correctly submitted, travelers from the US will obtain an approved eVisa directly issued to their passports. They will also receive a confirmation email, where they will find a PDF document that must be printed.

US Tourists Traveling to Cambodia with the eVisa

Americans can enter Cambodia by air and road. Those reaching the country by air should organize their arrival at one of the following international airports:

  • Phnom Penh International Airport
  • Siem Reap International Airport
  • Sihanoukville International Airport

On the other hand, travelers from the US entering Cambodia by road should plan their arrival through one of the following authorized border crossings:

  • Cham Yeam (Koh Kong Province)
  • Poi Pet (Banteay Meanchey Province)
  • Bavet (Svay Rieng Province)
  • Tropang Kreal Border Post (Stung Treng)

American visitors should abide by the authorized 30 days for their stay. According to the Cambodia visa policy, if they need to prolong their visit due to unforeseen circumstances, they can request an extension for their electronic visa at the National Police Immigration Department office.
